Greg Davies is an Welsh actor, comedian and former school teacher, best known for roles as Greg in We Are Klang and as Mr. Gilbert in The Inbetweeners.


Davies performs stand-up and is one third of the sketch group We Are Klang whose debut at Edinburgh picked up the Spirit of the Fringe award in 2004 . From May 2006 until June 2007, he was the continuity announcer and writer for UK cable and satellite channel Paramount Comedy, - his links between programmes featured a number of surreal characters and sound effects.

Davies can also be seen on the CBBC Channel playing characters such as William Shakespeare and Guy Fawkes alongside Ed Petrie and talking cactus Oucho. His other television appearances include playing W.G. Grace on Channel 4 cricket idents.

Davies is currently appearing in the E4 series The Inbetweeners playing the "psychotic" head of sixth form, Mr. Gilbert. Davies has previously mentioned in his stand up that he himself was a teacher for thirteen years; he taught Drama at Sandhurst Comprehensive School, English and Drama at Langleywood Secondary School, and Drama at Orleans Park School.

He also writes and performs regularly on radio and TV programmes such as BBC New Talent, Stand Up Britain and ITV's Take the Mike.

Davies is noted for his size, standing at 6ft 8in (2.03m) tall, and having size 16 feet.

In 2007 he played the role of an ex-roadie called Dunk 'The Skunk' in the BBC show Saxondale, starring Steve Coogan.

He has appeared as a guest panelist on the satirical show Mock the Week , the statistics-based programme 8 out of 10 Cats and the music quiz Never Mind The Buzzcocks.


In 2002, Davies won the Laughing Horse New Act of The Year competition and was a finalist in So You Think You're Funny.

In 2003, he was a runner up in ITV's 'Take the Mike' competition and a finalist in the Leicester Mercury New Act of The Year competition. He was nominated for Best New Act of the Year in the 2003 Chortle comedy awards.

In 2006, Davies was nominated for an If.comedy award as part of We Are Klang.

In 2007, Davies was nominated three times in the Chortle Awards, in the category 'Breakthrough Act' (for his solo stand-up act), 'Best Sketch, Variety or Character Act' and 'Best Full-Length Show' (both as part of sketch team We Are Klang).
